A Travellerspoint blog

We love Split!

We've really only been awake here for a few hours, but we love it! Our AirBnB apartment is in the perfect location. It's cute and comfortable and we can walk around town easily. We finally crashed after being awake and on the move for our marathon travel day and slept until about 11:00AM. Then we ventured out to explore. The waterfront, outdoor marketplace, and old city are just a few blocks away. Walking through narrow streets with crowds from the cruise ships got hot and sweaty pretty quick, but most people were giving the entrance fee to the basement rooms of the Roman palace a pass so we went in. It was interesting and beautiful and quite and cool, so worth it!

Back in the crowds a patio restaurant was perfect for lunch and people watching. After a break back in our apartment we'll hit the waterfront again in the evening and book a boat tour for tomorrow. The thing to see is apparently the Blue Cave, some snorkeling in a blue lagoon, and the island of Hvar for a view from the top of a fortress and some lavender fields.

There are a bunch of new photos in the gallery.

I had to look up Split to see where it was. I'd never even heard of it before. Great pics!! I love Baylie at the table framed by palm trees. That's what I expected to see on this trip. Now we need some of the clear blue water. SO glad you finally got some sleep! Wow! I'll be checking for updates!! xoxoxo

Wow! It looks really beautiful there. It sounds like you two will really have a great time there.
So nice to be on your own time line and not a cruise itinerary. Enjoy, loving the pictures
