Breakfast in Croatia, lunch in Denmark, dinner in Greece

Why were we in Denmark for lunch? Great question. Croatia might look like a short logical little hop from Greece, but as we proved on the way there it is not easy to get to! Which meant no simple or direct way to get to where we were headed. Who planned this trip anyway?! We left Trogir at noon, made an illogical stop in Copenhagen, and finally arrived in Athens at about 9:30. Then we had to get from the airport to the port of Piraeus for our ferry tomorrow. Taxi would have cost about $80, so we opted for the metro. I was quickly reminded that there is a lot less English in Greece, but it seemed pretty straight forward. We grabbed tickets and were told by the ticket agent to "make haste" down to the platform because the train arrived in one minute. Woo hoo! We made it, but the stops didn't seem to be lining up with the online metro map I had pulled up. Oh well, it was headed in the general direction we wanted to go. At one point, after several stops, everyone got off and a guy gestured that we needed to get off quickly and on a different train across the track. The ticket agent at the airport didn't mention changing trains, but maybe that's because he knew we needed to "make haste". We jumped on the other train and it also seemed to be going in the general direction of the port, so woo hoo again!

Anyway, the story has an uneventful ending because the second train did, in fact, deposit us at the port and we walked easily a few blocks to our hotel. We found a place around the corner with plastic tables on the sidewalk serving food. It didn't matter a bit that the menu was entirely in Greek. We smiled, pointed, and nodded. Dinner was served 😋

Tomorrow we are off to Mykonos.
